Too many good performances to choose from

Triple-A: Syracuse Mets (25-16)

SYRACUSE 12, IOWA 5 (BOX)

Iowa scored two in the ninth but this was a resounding win for Syracuse regardless. Trayce Thompson had another three home run game to pace the offense, while Hayden Senger tallied three home runs of his own. On the mound, Dom Hamel was a bit uneven – four walks and thee runs without getting out of the fifth.

Double-A: Binghamton Rumble Ponies (19-16)

BOWIE 3, BIGNHAMTON 2 (BOX)

The Rumble Ponies scored in the bottom of the ninth and had the tying and go-ahead runs in scoring position. Unfortunately, Brandon McIlwain couldn’t get the job done, striking out to end the game. Prior to that, not a ton of offensive activity; their only run scored on an error in the fourth. On the plus side, Alex Ramirez had a better day than he’s had recently, notching two singles and a steal.

High-A: Brooklyn Cyclones (18-19)

BOWLING GREEN 6, BROOKLYN 5 (BOX)

Heartbreaking loss for the Cyclones in this one. Tied at three going into the ninth, a sacrifice fly and an RBI triple gave Brooklyn a 5-3 lead. Unfortunately, Dakota Hawkins ran into trouble in the bottom half, loading the bases with two outs. He was replaced by Joey Lancellottti, who promptly hit a batter, walked the second, then walked another for a walkoff loss. Brutal.

Rookie: FCL Mets (6-4)

FCL METS 5, FCL NATIONALS 1 (BOX)

Jeremy Rodriguez is him. That’s it. That’s the recap.

Seriously though, after a four hit day, the 17-year-old shortstop has a batting average over .400 and an OPS over 1.000 through his first nine games of the season. That performance at the top of the lineup propelled the Mets to a 5-1 win over the Nationals. A.J. Ewing and Simon Juan had rough days, but Willy Fanas had a double and a walk.
