Judiciary Report: Sua’ali’i facing lengthy ban after Walsh tackle

Blues and Roosters centre Joseph Sua’ali’i has been charged by the match review committee after he was sent off inside the opening minutes of Origin I for a high shot on Reece Walsh.

Sua’ali’i, one of five players making their debut for New South Wales, became just the sixth player to be marched in Origin history with Ashley Klein sending off the 20-year-old after seven minutes and 25 seconds of play.

He has been charged with a Grade Two reckless high tackle offence, which will see him suspended for four matches with an early guilty plea or five matches if he unsuccessfully contests the charge at the judiciary.

Blues vice-captain Isaah Yeo was also charged with a Grade One Careless High Tackle in the defeat, and faces a fine of 7-10 percent of his match fee.

He was charged for a tackle on Murray Taulagi in the 27th minute.

Teams for Game Two of the 2024 Ampol State of Origin series will be selected at the completion of Round 16 of the Telstra Premiership competition, with the game to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on June 26.
