Jackson is a 20-year-old defensive tackle from Contra Costa College, which is a junior college in California. He will join the team as a class of 2024 recruit and be eligible to play next season.
A native of Atlanta (GA), Jackson has spent the past two years in the JUCO ranks and will have two seasons left of eligibility. He does not have an evaluation at any of the major recruiting sites.
After an unfortunate string of injuries, including a season-ending injury to Josaih Hayes, left the Cats in need of defensive line depth, they’ve been gauging the transfer portal and JUCO market to see if there is someone who could come in and give them positive snaps next season.
Kentucky didn’t have a ton of competition in the recruitment of Jackson, as his only other D1 offers were Grambling State, Valdosta State, Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and Southern.
However, what Jackson brings to the table for the Cats is something that they desperately need, and that is size. Jackson checks in at 6-foot-5 and 335 pounds. Even with that frame, Jackson has some nice burst off the line of scrimmage. His highlights make it easy to see that he is willing to do the dirty work with the number of double teams he faces.
