The Seattle Seahawks have made a strategic move by adding wide receiver Miles Boykin and running back Brittain Brown to their practice squad. This decision bolsters their depth at two critical offensive positions as the team navigates a long and competitive NFL season.
Miles Boykin, a former third-round draft pick by the Baltimore Ravens, brings a combination of size, speed, and experience to Seattle’s receiving corps. Standing at 6-foot-4 and weighing 220 pounds, Boykin has the physical tools to be a red-zone threat and an outside receiving option. Though his career in Baltimore was primarily characterized by special teams play and limited offensive production, Boykin’s potential as a wide receiver is intriguing. His best season came in 2019 when he logged 13 receptions for 198 yards and three touchdowns. Joining the Seahawks’ practice squad gives him an opportunity to refine his skills and possibly work his way into a more prominent role if injuries or performance issues arise in the main roster.
On the other hand, Brittain Brown is a promising young running back who was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. The UCLA product is a physical runner, standing at 6-foot-1 and 205 pounds, and had a productive collegiate career. While Brown has yet to make a significant mark in the NFL, he now has a chance to develop his game in Seattle’s run-heavy offense. The Seahawks have a history of nurturing running backs, and Brown could benefit from learning behind veteran backs like Kenneth Walker III and Zach Charbonnet.
These practice squad additions provide the Seahawks with added flexibility and depth, ensuring they remain prepared for the rigors of the NFL season.
