Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall, where we highlight the five most essential IU basketball stories of the past week, plus take a look at how the other IU sports programs are doing.
With schedule news now in the rearview mirror, recruiting moved to the forefront with many developments here. IU went one-for-two with its top targets last week and landed its first commitment of 2025. Also, another prospect high on IU’s priority list trimmed his options down and included the Hoosiers in his final three.
Additionally, Inside the Hall continued its series previewing other Big Ten teams. We will, as usual, conclude with a look at other IU sports, led by football beating Maryland to obtain their first 5-0 record since 1967.
Here is what is in this week’s edition:
• Indiana lands commitment from four-star Trent Sisley
• Jalen Haralson chooses Notre Dame over IU and Michigan State
• Braylon Mullins announced his top three schools
• Inside The Hall’s Big Ten team previews
• Podcast on the Brink and Back Home Network shows
• Hoosier Roundup
Banner #1 – Indiana lands commitment from four-star Trent Sisley
The week started with a celebration for Hoosier fans with some massive recruiting news. After visiting Bloomington last weekend, one of the top recruits in the country chose IU and became the first commitment of 2025 in the process.
Trent Sisley will play his college basketball in Assembly Hall as the Hoosiers beat out Matt Painter and Purdue, among others, for his services. Sisley played his first three years of high school basketball at Heritage Hills before moving on to Montverde this fall.
Sisley is the No. 75 player in the 2025 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. He is also Hoosier coach Mike Woodson’s first high school commitment from the state of Indiana during his tenure. After his pledge, Inside the Hall did a Q&A with Sisley. Assembly Call also had an emergency podcast.
Banner #2 – Jalen Haralson chooses Notre Dame over IU and Michigan State
While the importance of landing Sisley should not be underestimated, Indiana missed out on another top in-state target a few days later. After narrowing his list to include IU and much anticipation from Hoosier fans, Jalen Haralson announced he is headed elsewhere.
While Haralson is staying in Indiana, he will play his college basketball further north at Notre Dame for Micah Shrewsberry, who is assembling an elite class for the Fighting Irish. Haralson is the No. 13 player in the 247Sports Composite rankings and the highest-ranked player ND has ever landed.
Banner #3 – Braylon Mullins announced his top three schools
The other main target from Indiana that the Hoosiers are heavily pursuing is Braylon Mullins. Mullins has not decided on his future yet but is Sisley’s AAU teammate. He has also trimmed his list of schools he is considering to three which includes IU as well as UConn and North Carolina.
Inside the Hall examined where Indiana stands with recruiting currently for 2025 following the Sisley commitment and Haralson miss. Other targets besides Mullins include Nate Ament, Mikel Brown Jr., Eric Reibe and Bryson Tiller.
Banner #4 – Inside The Hall’s Big Ten team previews
Inside the Hall continued its series previewing other Big Ten teams. This week, they looked at the squads projected to finish near the top of the league, including UCLA, Illinois, Rutgers, Michigan State, and Purdue.
Banner #5 – Podcast on the Brink and Back Home Network shows
Podcast on the Brink was on-air last week. On it, Crimson Cast’s Scott Caulfield joined to discuss the upcoming basketball season.
Crimson Cast was also active on their own with four new episodes. Bison Chat, Doing The Work, and Dribble Drive also recorded shows.
Banner #6 – Hoosier Roundup
• Football faced its first close game of the season. However, the Hoosiers prevailed against Maryland 42-28 to start 5-0 for the first time since 1967.
Men’s soccer played one of their best matches of the season against top-five-ranked Ohio State. Despite pouring rain, Indiana gained a valuable point in the conference race with a 2-2 draw.
• Volleyball beat in-state rival Notre Dame to close non-conference play at 7-3. However, they fell in their Big Ten opener at Washington and at Oregon a couple of nights later.
• Women’s soccer won their first Big Ten game of the season this week by defeating Oregon in Eugene. They also fell to USC before that in Bloomington last Sunday.
• Men’s golf won a tournament at Purdue.
• Field hockey fell to Northwestern and Penn State.
• Baseball split a pair of fall exhibition games at Louisville.
• Women’s tennis had an athlete compete in the ITA All-American Championships.
• Softball will compete in the Puerto Vallarta challenge next February.
• Finally, Women’s basketball was picked a solid fifth in the Big Ten next year despite the expired eligibility of the program’s greatest player of all time Mackenzie Holmes. The addition of both LA schools pushed the Hoosiers down a couple of spots, with both newcomers expected to be in the top-five nationally.
Thanks for your continued support of The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall. We’ll be back next weekend with a new roundup.
Now go enjoy yourself a 6-banner Sunday.
