Indiana basketball fans have something to look forward to as the university has officially announced the date and details for its annual Hoosier Hysteria event. Set for October 7, 2024,this year’s Hoosier Hysteria will serve as the official kickoff for both the men’s and women’s basketball programs, bringing fans and players together in anticipation of the upcoming season.
Hoosier Hysteria is an iconic tradition at Indiana University, marking the start of the basketball season with an electric event featuring player introductions, skill showcases, and fan interaction. However, this year, the university has decided to introduce a new format designed to add more excitement and involvement for the attendees.
Traditionally a celebration of basketball, the 2024 event will feature not only the usual scrimmages and three-point shooting contests, but also a skills challenge and an interactive fan zone where attendees can participate in shooting contests and drills alongside players. Additionally, there will be an expanded community segment where fans can meet the athletes and coaching staff up close, including autograph sessions, Q&A opportunities, and photo ops. This change is aimed at creating a more immersive experience for the Hoosier faithful.
Head coaches Mike Woodson of the men’s team and Teri Moren of the women’s team are excited about the new format, seeing it as a way to further engage the fan base. “Hoosier Hysteria has always been special, but this year we wanted to take it to the next level,” Woodson said. “Our fans are the best, and we want them to be a part of the experience in a more meaningful way.”
As both programs prepare for the new season, Hoosier Hysteria 2024 promises to be a memorable night for players and fans alike, marking the start of another exciting chapter in Indiana basketball history.
