There’s no one that represents Tennessee better than him,” Josh Heupel said.
In a press conference Monday, Tennessee football head coach Josh Heupel confirmed that linebacker Kennan Pili is out for the rest of the season.
Pili tore his ACL during the game against Florida. Heupel said he was heartbroken for the veteran linebacker and his family.
“There’s no one that represents Tennessee better than him,” Heupel said. “He’s a great leader and will continue to be that inside of our building.”
Heupel praised Pili and said he was a guy who “does absolutely everything right.”
“Special player—but [a] special person too. He’s got a great future.”
The Vols won in overtime against the Florida Gators, 23-17. They take on Alabama in Neyland Stadium at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday.
