In a remarkable turn of events, South Carolina Gamecocks’ quarterback LaNorris Sellers has been named the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Freshman of the Year. This accolade comes as a testament to his outstanding performance throughout the 2024 season, where he showcased exceptional skill and leadership on the field.
Sellers, a redshirt freshman, completed 64.9% of his passes, amassing 2,274 yards and 17 touchdowns. His dual-threat capability was evident as he also rushed for 655 yards and seven touchdowns, ranking third among SEC quarterbacks in rushing yards.
His consistent excellence did not go unnoticed; Sellers was a two-time recipient of both the SEC Offensive Player of the Week and Freshman of the Week honors during the season. Notably, his performance against Missouri, where he threw for a career-high five touchdowns, earned him national recognition.
