In a move that underscores both his coaching ascent and deep-rooted football pedigree, Nate Dreiling, a Kansas native and former All-American linebacker, has joined the University of Oklahoma as the inside linebackers coach. Born in Victoria, Kansas, and raised in Hutchinson, Dreiling’s football journey began under the guidance of his father, Randy Dreiling, a revered high school coach. At Hutchinson High School, Nate played a pivotal role in securing four consecutive 6A state championships, laying the foundation for his future in football.​

His collegiate career at Pittsburg State University was nothing short of stellar. As a four-time All-American, Dreiling led the Gorillas to the NCAA Division II National Championship in 2011, earning the title of National Defensive Player of the Year. Transitioning from player to coach, Dreiling’s early coaching roles included a graduate assistant position at the University of Kansas and a defensive coordinator role at his alma mater, Pittsburg State. His coaching journey also saw him as a defensive analyst at the University of Oregon and as the defensive run game coordinator at Southeast Missouri State.

In 2022, Dreiling took on the role of defensive coordinator at New Mexico State, where he honed his leadership and strategic skills. His capabilities were further recognized in 2024 when he was appointed as the interim head coach and defensive coordinator at Utah State, making him the youngest FBS head coach at the time
