Texas Tech quarterback Behren Morton says he’s fully recovered from the shoulder injury he suffered last season.

The Red Raiders shut down their starting quarterback during spring practice in April in the interest of the junior’s health, and the plan was he would resume football activities this summer.

At Big 12 media days in Las Vegas, ESPN’s Adam Rittenberg reported that Morton said he saw several specialists in recent months and began a program throwing 75 balls four times a week. He now can throw whenever he wants.

Texas Tech is coming off a 6-6 season where the Red Raiders lost its starting quarterback to an injury for the seventh consecutive season.

Morton was 6-2 as the starter in 2023, including a 34-14 victory over California in the Independence Bowl when he threw for 259 yards and three touchdowns.

Morton played through shoulder issues most of the season after getting hurt when he replaced an injured Tyler Shough against West Virginia in September. He completed 62% of his passes with 15 TDs and eight interceptions.
