Mr described Grubb as “an amazingly cerebral coach, very thoughtful, very intentional.” He emized Grubb’s innovative approach to offense, noting his ability to create confusion for opposing defenses through various strategies. “If youk at the different ways that he tries to attack opposing defenses, he has a great feel for how to create confusion, whether it’s with multiple tight end sets, multiple wide receiver sets, unique motions and shifts, both pre-snap and while the ball is being snapped — he creates a lot of problems for the opponent,” McElroy stated.
Grubb’s coaching career includes a significant tenure with head coach Kalen DeBoer. The two have collaborated since their time at the University of Sioux Falls in 2007, with Grserving as offensive coordinator under DeBoer at both Fresno State and the University of Washington. Their partnership has been mard by offensive succe,ulminating in Washington’s appearance in the National Championship in 2023.
Before accepting the position at Alabama, Grubb served as the offensive coordinator for the tle Seahawks during the past NFL season. Despite the Seahawks averaging 332.2 yards of offense per game, ranking in the top half of the NFL, Grubb was leased from his posiofollowing the season’s conclusion. This development opened the door for his transition to Alabama, where he will reunite with DeBoer and bring his offensive expertise to the Crims Tide
McElrighlighted the significance of Grubb’s hiring, stating, “That’s why Nick Saban wanted him, that’s why the NFL wanted him and that’s why Kalen Der wants him tomin.”
