Tennessee Vols basketball coach Rick Barnes suffered another loss against a lesser seed in the NCAA Tournament.

The No. 3 seed Vols lost 76-68 against No. 11 seed Michigan in the second round of the SEC Tournament on Saturday in Indianapolis. That loss pushes Barnes’ NCAA Tournament record to 25-26 as a head coach.

Barnes’ Vols teams have made four NCAA Tournament appearances. Tennessee has lost three times to double-digit seeds in those four appearances, and each Vols’ NCAA Tournament loss has come against a lesser seed in the Barnes era. Since Barnes’ 2007-08 Texas team advanced to the Elite Eight, Barnes’ squads have made the second weekend of the tournament once (2018-19 Tennessee) in 10 tries.
